Abstract: There have always been laws which directly or indirectly protected certain legitimate expectations of purchases of goods. Controls over the price of commodities, prohibitions of false weights, measures and hallmarks, and controls over the sale of deteriorated substances and expired medical products have been with us for a long number of years; some regulations fate back to the last century.
