Abstract: It is the aim of this work to examine whether the Maltese jury selection system can be improved and if the answer is yes, how it can be improved. In answering the first question, seven foreign jury selection systems were thoroughly examined. Each of these systems has features which, if employed in Malta, would definitely enhance the jury selection system in Malta. A thorough appraisal of the Maltese system follows. From this appraisal, it is evident that the Maltese jury selection system can be improved, both in form and in substance. For this reason, those aspects of the foreign systems which would benefit the Maltese system, have been brought together and adapted to the Maltese social and legal realities of today. Hence, the concluding chapter of this work is a jury selection system that is conceived as an improvement on the current one.
