Abstract: The aim behind this dissertation is to study the relationship between culture and wellbeing, as well as the relationship between other determinants of wellbeing. One could say that culture does not benefit only people who are engaged in it by participation or attending but that it also has a holistic effect on the community in general, both positively and negatively. Participation in culture can be both voluntary and non-voluntary (work). The main data used within this research is secondary data, i.e. using the national survey of Culture Participation 2016. The main findings of this study state that both culture attendance and participation for leisure have positive yet minimal effects on wellbeing. However, it was discovered that non-voluntary culture participation (work) results in significant and substantial impact on wellbeing. When it comes to other determinants of wellbeing, the study concluded that employment and health limitations have the highest negative effect on wellbeing, whilst education and environment have the highest positive effect on wellbeing.
