Abstract: A small-scale research approach was chosen to explore the views and experiences of midwives who undertake or used to undertake home birth. The aims and objectives of the study were achieved through a semi-structured interview which was conducted to 5 qualified midwives. The findings of the study demonstrated that home birth provide several advantages to the mother and midwife, while there are not sufficient indications that hospital birth is safer than home birth. Moreover, women have to be informed about home birth so that they can have the possible option to choose home as the place of birth. Details of the results obtained are explained in the findings section while recommendations for practice and research were given as well.
