Abstract: This study examined the perceived employability of ex-convicts within the Maltese context. The study used a quantitative methodology, and respondents had to complete a questionnaire which was constructed specifically for this study. The sample consisted of 99 participants (70 males, 29 females) coming from various industries in Malta. The means from various demographic variables such as industry, sex, and attitudes towards different crimes were compared and analysed statistically. Results reveal statistically significant relationships between perceived employability and the type of crime committed, as well as a statistically significant relationship between perceived employability and gender. The aim of this study was to enquire into the possible hiring behaviour of employers with regards to ex-convicts. The results of this study draw out implications for creating better suited training programmes for ex-convicts as well as enhanced procedures to help ex-offenders find employment. Future qualitative and longitudinal studies are recommended to supplement the results of this study.
