Abstract: Services rendered voluntarily to save property in danger at sea entitle the person or persons rendering such services to an award based on the value of the property saved and other factors. The right to an award is conditional upon the claimants having rendered services which benefited the property in danger and upon the property being ultimately brought into safety not necessarily by the claimants. Salvage is defined as the services rendered for the purpose of recovering a ship or her cargo after actual loss.
