Abstract: Hijacking or aircraft seizure can be said to be a product of an age where modern technology and the growth of air communications meet the challenge of violence and illegality. As the crime extends the world over, the concern of mankind is increased. As a result, the international community has endeavored to establish proper legal counter measures to this international phenomenon and Governments have taken effective internal measures for minimizing the risk which threatened, and still threatens the safety of civil aviation. A rapid and effective response was necessary to combat the evils which menaced the ‘ius communicationis’.
