Abstract: Multimodal Transport, otherwise known as Combined or Intermodal Transport is not a new concept as it has long been been common practice for two or more modes of transportation to be employed to effect a particular transit. However, rapid developments in transport technology such as containerisation, palletisation, roll-on-roll-off ships, LASH barges and the like have highlighted the inadequacy of the present state of transport law to meet the exigencies of the new organisational revolution in international transport.
