Abstract: The subject matter of Copyright, not only inspires widespread academic interest, attracting philosophers, theoreticians legislative researchers and legislators alike, but it is also a subject that attracts anyone interested in the legal protection of intellectual property and moreover, it is a subject that attracts those who understand the value copyright legislation has in International Economics and Trade. For this reason, I have chosen to research the general argument of copyright; to show how copyright law found a niche in Russian legislation, along with the legislation of major European countries and the United States of America. Thus, it was necessary to see the developments of the Russian Copyright Law, side by side with the developments of other country's legislations and international conventions; how Russian Copyright Law has been affected by International Pressure; what improvements could the Russian and other countries' copyright legislation benefit from; and what are the gains from adequate Copyright legislation for the Russian Federation, also applicable to other countries.
