Abstract: In any discussion of the gap between law and reality, an examination of that area where this gap is most evident - that between constitutional law and constitutional reality - cannot be ignored. Conversely, in a discussion of constitutional law and constitutional reality the wider framework of the law/reality distinction cannot be ignored either. In the following pages, it will be seen that the GUP between constitutional law and constitutional reality will sometimes reach surprising proportions. But it must be emphasized that this is only a particular aspect of the more general law/reality dichotomy. It is hoped that further studios in that field will be affected, which will (it is similarly hoped) lead to an actual narrowing of the gap between law and reality. Thus, our primary thesis is that the term "constitution" is not restricted in meaning to the document so entitled. Our secondary thesis is that (consequently) change is not restricted solely to the formal amending process as entrenched in the "constitution."
