Business intelligence : analysing the current level in the Maltese gaming industry in comparison to locally founded companies

Abstract

The aim of this research is to analyse the current levels of Business Intelligence in the Maltese Gaming Industry. Moreover, the level and effectiveness of Business Intelligence shall be measured through a cross analysis between the Maltese Gaming Industry and locally founded companies such as the financial industry. The researcher intended to examine Business Intelligence in Malta since literature is relatively limited due to it being a new concept being implemented across various industries. To carry out the study, 10 participants operating in either the Malta Gaming Industry or in the Maltese Finance Industry shall be interviewed using semi-structured interviews. These interviews shall then be thoroughly analysed using a qualitative approach in order to gain the necessary knowledge on the research questions being put forward. The results acquired shall give a clear indication on the progressive steps forward companies have done in the field of data analysis through the use of Business Intelligence in their operations. Moreover, a great overview of a BI System and its effects on a company’s growth shall be highlighted. Lastly, any restricting factors which forbid any companies to properly utilise a BI System shall be pinpointed through the results acquired. This shall set the foundation for further studies related to Business Intelligence in Malta.
