Abstract: This article discusses the ways how male poets look at women (female object) in their poems. Examples from poems written in the 20th century, that were analysed by Laura Mulvey who was influenced by the theories of Freud and Lacan's, helped to shift the orientation of film theory towards a psychoanalytic framework. This article shows how one can apply this theory to literary analyses.
