Citation: Malta’s Dom Mintoff, Speech by Dom Mintoff, St George’s Square, Qormi, 27th March 1976 / Jeremy Boissevain. Malta, 1976.
Abstract: Any politician who speaks in public seeks to persuade and influence his audience. He very often does this by relating his message to accepted truths. He attempts to persuade by showing that his argument is merely a commonsense extension of an already accepted thesis. This in any event is the rhetorical style of Dom Mintoff, Malta's peppery and persuasive Socialist Prime Minister, who has been a major figure on the island's political scene for more than thirty years.
