Abstract: The aim of this study is to look into the thematic and cross-curricular approach in primary schools. A literature review analyses and discusses comparative programmes in this field. With the aid of a questionnaire, the present situation in a sample of Private and State Primary schools is assessed and evaluated. The attitudes and views of a target sample of teachers regarding the 'Topic Approach System' and the 'Integrated Approach System' are surveyed. Furthermore, the implementation of an 'Integrated Approach System' is explored within the limitations of the National Minimum Curriculum. 'Health Education' is the main area of research. The teaching of 'Health Education' in the above mentioned target sample of schools is investigated through the second part of the questionnaire. After this review, a Health Education Programme is formulated and a model for implementation in the primary schools is structured.
