Education in the Mediterranean : an inventory

Abstract

The inventory, being presented here, aims to bring together information about a number of Mediterranean experts in various fields of education, in order to foster and facilitate networking as well as collaborative educational projects and other similar activities. In this study, I have not just limited myself to present the inventory but have also tried to outline the sources which led to the set-up of this inventory. This general outline highlights in particular, the chain of events which have fostered political, economical and social development in the Mediterranean, but which at the same time, have given little attention to education, despite the innumerable challenges that mark this field. An estimated 2000 forms were distributed to all the educational institutions across the Mediterranean basin. A total of 262 completed forms were returned and these constitute this first edition of the inventory.
