Abstract

The aim of this thesis is a comprehensive analytical study of Id-Denfil 3 used as a reading text-book at Primary level. The primary aim of this dissertation is to show that Id-Denfil 3 is not designed as part of a larger reading scheme which conprises the whole Denfil series. This work is divided into five main sections and an introduction, which includes a study of: (i) a children's text-book, (ii) a reading scheme with special reference to the Ladybird Reading Scheme and the Ginn Reading Scheme. This is followed by a study of Id-Denfil 3 as a reading book which includes con11ents and a vocabulary analysis on the same. Sections 1 to 5 include a comparative study of Nouns, Adjectives, Verbs as well as Prepositions, Adverbs and Expressions in relation to those found in Denfil 1 and Denfil 2. Graphs and tabulations as well as final comments are also included.
