Abstract: The idea behind this dissertation is to complement the current Form 3 General History textbook with a multimedia package which enhances the teaching of history through the use of computer. It will focus on particular events found in the Form 3 General History syllabus which occurred during the reign of the Knights of St. John. This dissertation involved the creation of a website which brings together text specifically written for Form 3 students, original graphics and illustrations, video clips and worksheets. This dissertation gives a broad introduction to the topic. The literature review deals with the concepts of 'new history' teaching and the teaching of history and ICT. A description of software used to develop this multimedia package is also provided. The aim of the implementation is to link the teaching approach discussed in the literature review with the multimedia package. The dissertation deals with the pilot evaluation of the multimedia package by a group of students. Finally in the conclusion a brief evaluation of the limitations of the multimedia package is discussed and new fields of study related to the dissertation are proposed.
