| Abstract: | This dissertation discusses a number of English language teaching (BLT) syllabus formats. The study then goes on to analyse the Maltese context in order to establish what guidelines are available for Maltese primary state school teachers and what is actually being done in the initial stages of English teaching. The study consists of an analysis of the teachers' expectations in terms of second language learning and presents a tentative syllabus design based on a Task-based approach. The aim of this syllabus is to help the teachers achieve certain language attainment targets by the end of each of the first two scholastic years of primary school. |
