Abstract: Din id-dissertazzjoni tistudja r-relevanza tal-fatt Ii t-tfal Ghawdxin jitkellmu varjeta' ta' Malti differenti minn dak mghallem ufficjalment fil-klassijiet tal-primarja. Fil-parti empirika jigu mqabbla numru ta' klassijiet statali, fejn it-tfal jitkellmu l-istess varjeta' (p.ez. id-djalett tax-Xewkija, Ghawdex), ma' klassijiet fi skejjel tal-Knisja fejn it-tfal jigu minn ambjenti djalettali varji. Permezz ta' qari infurmat, intervisti ma' l-ghalliema, kwestjonarji lill-genituri, u osservazzjonijiet fil-klassijiet, din id-dissertazzjoni se tispjega kif dawn il-varjetajiet ghandhom relevanza fit-taghlim tal-Malti Standard. Ghalkemm il-varjetajiet djalettali Ii jinsabu kemm fl-lskejjel Statali kif ukoll fl-lskejjel tal Knisja jistghu b'xi mod joholqu xkiel ghat-taghlim tal-Malti Standard, dan it-tfixkil jista' jigi eliminat jekk mill-bidu nett it-tfal jigu mghallma dwar l-importanza tal-varjetajiet tal lingwa Ii ghandhom jigu wzati fic-cirkustanzi differenti tal-hajja. Barra minn hekk, inkixef fatt interessanti Ii meta jkun hemm numru ta' tfal gejjin minn ambjenti djalettali varji, dawn huma izjed kapaci jaccettaw varjetajiet djalettali differenti, minn tfal Ii gejjin minn ambjent djalettali fejn hemm djalett wiehed dominanti.
