| Abstract: | The aim of this dissertation is to study the past, present and future situation of school libraries in Malta, and to emphasize the importance and value of a school library in a modern educational system. It traces their history with an emphasis on Government Schools. It includes extracts from reports of experts about their situation. The progress achieved so far in the development of school libraries in Malta has been dealt with at some length. It illustrates steps already taken to introduce or to improve the existing school libraries and what is actually being carried out. Suggestions and plans for the future were investigated. Finally an attempt was made to describe what an ideal school library should be. |
