| Abstract: | The main aim behind the creation of this educational software package for the teaching of the Maltese was due to the lack of similar educational material for year 4 pupils in state schools. This software is meant as a teaching aid. It focuses on one main theme, being, 'A journey around the world'. This software package is divided into two main section addressing children and teachers. The children's section includes various on-line activities related to listening, speaking, reading, writing and grammar. The teacher's section includes lesson plans, worksheets, flashcards, banners and charts. The lesson plans explain how on-line activities can be used in class and provide ideas about off-line activities. A manual is also supplied together with this software. This software was tested and evaluated with a sample of twenty five students and four teachers from a government school. This dissertation proceeds to analyse, interpret and discuss the feedback obtained through the checklists which were given to the students and teachers. These check-lists proved further more the potential of the educational software package presented, as a useful resource in the teaching of Maltese in year 4 classes. |
