Abstract: This work sets out to identify the games Gozitan male pupils of Primary school age prefer to play. It also attempts to explore whether there is any divergence in games preferences between boys of Primary and Secondary school level. To collect this information, a questionnaire was administered to four hundred male pupils in Primary and Secondary schools chosen at random. Boys were asked to identify their favourite sports and the factors affecting their choice were investigated. Football emerged as the most popular game at both Primary and Secondary level. However tennis, volleyball and basketball proved to be gaining in popularity in Secondary schools. Finally some proposals are submitted for a more balanced Physical Education programme in Primary schools.
