Citation: Giordmaina, J. (1987). Computers in educational institutions : a survey (Bachelor's dissertation).
Abstract: This dissertation centres round a complex situation in the educational system of Malta: the shortage of the latest technology in our schools. The first section deals with the reasons why and ways how computers should be used in our schools. The dissertation then proceeds to analyse some of the common problems encountered by schools in this area, while the following part deals with the state of the art in three countries, two of which are at an economic stage similar to that of Malta, and the other more advanced. The second section is a report on a survey based on questionnaires sent to all government and private schools in Malta. This section is followed by a closer examination of what is taking place in eight schools which have computers. The dissertation ends with some recommendations on how improvement could be made in this field.
