| Abstract: | A textbook has been prepared for pupils of Year 1 (age 5-6) on environmental education. The textbook contains animal and plant portraits, stories and exercises, all in the form of illustrations. Accompanying the textbook is a teacher's guide containing notes on the subject and on lesson development. The aim of the books is to introduce children to nature. For this purpose, 12 animals and J plants were selected for inclusion. The books were tested in October 1988. 5 Year 1 classes and their teachers, chosen from 5 different schools were presented with a sample of the books. The textbook was assessed from feedback of the children's work. The teacher's guide was assessed by means of a questionnaire. The results of the test are discussed. |
