Abstract: The aim of this study is to show how the World-Wide Web can be used as a resource in primary schools. The Literature Review compares and contrasts diverging opinions about the pros and cons of the Web for education. Both the theoretical implication of having the Internet in the classroom and the problems of actually implementing the Web as a learning tool are reviewed. A review of currently available Web resources is presented together with specimen of each type of resource. Sites reviewed show how the Web is used as a means for schools' exposition, to carry educators' resource material on-line, as an educational and entertaining medium for children, and as a guide to parents assisting their children's surfing on the Net. The final two chapters illustrate the extent to which the Web has been used locally in education. A case study was carried out at 'San Andrea Middle School'. The headmaster's philosophy with regards to the use of l.T. by the school is analysed whilst an overview of Internet projects carried out so far by the school is also given. 'The Workshop' gives a detailed explanation of how the Internet project at 'San Andrea' was carried out, from initial conception until the final product was published on the Net.
