Abstract: The Bible is the principal source book in Christian Religious Education. The use of the Bible in Catechesis developed as the History of Catechesis itself developed. The present method used in Catechesis places the Bible at its centre to throw light on human experiences. How is the Bible being used presently in our schools? A deep understanding of the nature of the Bible is important so that we can present it in the correct manner. Presentation of the Bible takes place on two levels: that of content and that of method. Knowledge of the background of the the Bible helps us to avoid many mistakes. Are our youths familiar with the Bible? Does the Bible influence our culture? Christian organisations help youths to familiarise themselves with the Bible. We must teach our youths not only to read the Bible but also to pray the Bible. A Maltese Bible suited for youths will be of great value to help them familiarise themselves with it.
