Abstract: It is the aim of this study to discuss the main factors contributing to morality in the classroom with particular reference to moral dilemmas as faced by the secondary school teacher. After discussing themes such as the ethical aspects of teaching, the teacher as a moral agent factors influencing moral judgements and the mora! concepts underlying mora! dilemmas, an attempt is made to elicit examples of moral dilemmas faced by the teacher in the secondary school classroom, and a discussion ensues on the need for ethical instruction for teachers.
