| Abstract: | The main aim of this thesis is to develop a collection of synonyms in Maltese. A substantial part of the words in this collection was gathered in a study by Gatt and Muscat (1997). We created a number of activities which are based on this collection. These are targeted for the first and second years of primary school. These activities are here evaluated and analysed to ascertain their suitability for children of this age group. We had positive and encouraging results and this study has to be regarded as the point of departure for other studies in the area of vocabulary acquisition in Maltese. |
