Abstract: The aim of this dissertation is the study of the pedagogical element in the fables of Jean De La Fontaine. it was deemed necessary to introduce this work by defining the term 'fable', illustrating the history and the evolution of Jean De La Fontaine as well as showing how Jean De La Fontaine was acquainted with them. following this, a study of the contemporary scene in such aspects as politics, society and literature explains the structure and the content of La Fontaine's fables, based mainly on the two-fold role of contemporary literature, amusement and teaching. Next, the originality of the work of La Fontaine is brought out, the characteristics of which are clearly visible in his teaching techniques, including the fables' form, language, style, versification, characters, and themes, the latter forming the backbone to their moral. Finally, it was indispensable to include a gathering of the most qualified and influential critiques of the pedagogy of La Fontaine's fables, illustrating their diverse aspects.
