Abstract: The aim of this dissertation is to discover whether an unstable home background affects boys' behaviour at school (aged between seven and eleven years). The study's focus is on teachers' perception of boys' undesirable behaviour in the classroom and the way it is related to what they know or suspect about the child's family life. Teachers and the children were interviewed to enable one get a clearer understanding of the child's behaviour. The main finding is that unstable home backgrounds could be a strong contributing factor to unacceptable behaviour. Some recommendations that may decrease the stresses in the classroom that the child with problems may encounter are suggested and discussed.
