Abstract: Breast-feeding is a universal "natural imperative" ensuring infant survival and health. However, many countries, including Malta have witnessed signs of decline in this method of feeding. Steps to reverse this attitude have to be taken immediately to safeguard babies against any possible adverse effect on their health. Whether breast-feeding continues to decline depends on what is done to support it. As a home economics teacher, I am a greatly concerned about the health of both mother and child. Consequently, I decided that with my study I will join other organisations, health workers and doctors, who for the past decades have been campaigning against bottle-feeding.
