Primary science : a comparative study between a local and a foreign school

Abstract

The research aims to provide a detailed account, whereby two state run educational institutions, one local and another in the United Kingdom, will be compared with respect to primary science management. The comparative study will focus on both the administration level and classroom level. Policy - making and preparation of educational programmes will be thoroughly examined. Subsequently, the context, which provides the better environment for the best execution of primary science, will be discussed. The data collected through interviews with heads and teachers from both schools, the post -holder for science in the British context, and members of the local Science Support Team, was necessary to bring to light both negative and positive similarities and differences of the two institutions. It was demonstrated that both institutions need to develop an official policy for primary science, as this will enable both in the acquisition of further expertise at all levels. Consequently, such a policy would give opportunity to both institutions to consider improvement in style of management and review of job description. Furthermore, increased flexibility in teaching styles would definitely help to improve certain aspects, which are at present being omitted from the regular execution of the subject. All this will surely contribute to better execution of science education in both contexts.
