Abstract

This book is used by children aged five and six attending the first year of Maltese Primary Schools, The First Section .studies the sp0ech sounds of children using this book and their difficulties. We attempt to give reasons for these difficulties, and suggest possible solutions to overcome them. This study was done with the help of consultation with teachers and recordings of children in our Government Primary Schools. The Second Section of this study, deals with the layout of the book. This includes information on the characters, the environment, the topics, an analysis of the content, and a syntactic study.
