Abstract: One of the most documented fields of studies in education, including science education is the study of attitudes. Abroad such studies have encompassed attitudes towards computers, amongst other things. On the local scene many studies were conducted on the attitudes of pupils towards disciplines of science, such as physics, chemistry, integrated science as well as others. The present study of the attitudes towards computers opens a relatively new local field. This study centres around the attitudes of Form IV pupils in State Junior Lyceums in Malta. Different points of view were considered, being gender, parental occupation and computer ownership. In all of them, diverse patters in attitudes were observed between the various groups of pupils. These dissimilarities suggest that there are a number of problems with computers and education in Malta. The main one in the slow pace which they are being introduced into schools. Alongside the identified problems, possible solutions were presented with the hope that these will be given some due attention.
