Abstract: The objective of this dissertation is to recognize and support children with learning difficulties in their early primary education especially during the Maltese lessons. This dissertation identifies the concept of inclusive education and the principle of inclusive educational setting that has to be adopted to meet the challenges and to provide appropriate educational opportunities for all children within the classroom. It is not the scope of the dissertation to cover the history of inclusion in Malta or in any other foreign country. A major aim of this work is to plan and create a set of lesson plans and a resource pack for the introduction of the Maltese language in Year 1 in an inclusive setting. The first part of the dissertation consists of a literature review of the teaching principles and techniques that should be implemented in an inclusive setting. This part also highlights the importance and benefits of an educational system which encourages the development of children's creativity and abilities. This is followed by the formulation of a set of lesson plans and a resource pack for Maltese language teaching within the parameters of the National Minimum Curriculum in an inclusive setting.
