Abstract: An empirical research was conducted in various State Primary Schools in Malta, by means of a questionnaire distributed to Year 1 and Year 2 teachers. The number of respondents were 163; all females. The questionnaire comprised 26 questions where the teachers were asked to tick given statements they agreed with. The results of the questionnaire indicated that various aspects are hindering creative teaching. These include: the vast syllabus; lack of resources in schools; lack of preparation time; a large number of children in the classroom; mixed ability classes. In order to find out how a creative aspect can be implemented, the syllabus for Year 1 and Year 2 was looked into. A further step was taken by producing a handbook designed on creative ideas with the aim of complimenting the already existing syllabus.
