Abstract: The study of language is continually growing and branching out into new fields. Consequently, methods of language teaching are subject to an ongoing process of reassessment and innovation. Against this background the aim of this case study is to investigate the way in which English is taught in a typical Maltese Primary School and, hence, to look into the methods employed in teaching English. The data obtained from this study will be analysed and interpreted. Some suggestions for ELT in Primary Schools will also be proposed according to the results of this study and in the light of the status of the English language in Malta.
