Abstract: This dissertation is a study on Drama in Early Childhood Education, hence the teaching of Drama as an independent subject. The authors sought to find out whether the establishment of this subject on the timetable is possible. The theoretical aspect was firstly explored through curricula from other countries providing a wide spectrum of how Drama may be addressed. This part of the research accentuated the need for the Maltese Curriculum to clearly define the role of Drama in primary schools. The study includes consultations with professionals within the Faculty of Education and The Education Division in order to give a better picture of what is and could be done in local primary schools. The practical aspect of the study sees the authors participating in The Piramide Project coordinated by Ms. Isabelle Gatt. Story telling is the point of departure. However, the forms and methods adopted by each author are different: Drama through Prop Production Drama through Movement The research adopted throughout the project includes both quantitative and qualitative research methods: Past experience of Drama - a survey with parents regarding their children's exposure to Drama. Present situation of Drama - Drama sessions delivered throughout The Piramide Project. Future situation of Drama - a discussion based on the research gathered. Regrettably, the disputes regarding this subject are still looked upon with awe, and the lacuna surrounding it is still too large. The authors augur that this work may provoke others to consider this bone of contention.
