Abstract

This dissertation presents an illustrated Maltese book, which includes a variety of literary works, with a social theme, for primary school children aged between eight and eleven. The project attempts to make up for the lack of Maltese children's books about the theme. This research also includes a set of lesson plans that facilitate the teachers' use of the material, while highlighting the featured social aspects. The author has conducted a psychological and sociological research, which has unravelled real social problems encountered by juniors. Three out of the seven writings were implemented and evaluated in a classroom setting.
