Abstract: A study is made of the events and circumstances that have led to the introduction of Systems of Knowledge. Also an analysis is made of the contents of this course together with changes that have taken place, are taking place and may eventually take place. A review of the major points of criticism is undertaken in so far as they relate to the raison d'etre of the course itself. Reference is made to the ulterior motives that have been at tributed to the introduction of Systems of Knowledge besides the aims and objectives as stated by the official education authorities. Concepts such as interdisciplinarity, culture, holistic approach to education and others are considered vis-a-vis the course. Although no systematic evaluation of failure or success is made of the course, note is taken of its weak and strong points, and its positive and negative aspects in so far as they act as instruments of change and development. Finally, the author attempts to look into the future of Systems of Knowledge.
