Abstract: This study investigates the effect of the National Minimum Curriculum on Business Studies teachers in the Area Secondary schools and Junior Lyceums. It 'gives a brief historical documentation of the introduction of commercial subjects in the Maltese Educational System, together with the basic differences in the nature and aims of the syllabi of Accounts. Economics and Business Studies. The Methodology chapter, outlines how the qualitative research was conducted. and the interview questions and the reasons for asking them are also dealt with. The responses elicited from the interviews of the teachers are monitored and analysed. Whilst deepening the critique, some practical suggestions are also given in the last chapter in order to acquaint Business Studies teachers with progressive educational methods and practices.
