Abstract: The aim of this thesis is to show that Jesus Christ instituted the Eucharist so that those who share in his Body and Blood at Communion after serious initiation to faith assimilate in their own body his same style of life to continue his work of salvation in the world. It aims also to demonstrate that if the Eucharist does not pass over from a celebration inside the church, into its concrete practice of love outside, in the daily life, it remains loveless and fragmented. It also aims to establish that the Church lives from the Eucharist because it is the Eucharist that makes the Church. However, it is the Church, as the People of God, that makes the real presence of Christ in the Eucharist visible to the world. Thus it is also the Church that makes the Eucharist.
