Abstract: This study delineates Augustine's search for the Truth as narrated in his Confessions: the loves he held on to and the influences which eventually led him to discover the Truth in Christ. The first chapter examines the search for the divine according to Plato and Plotinus, sources which influenced Augustine in his search. Subsequently the second chapter analyses another crucial influence, that of the Apostle Paul. The third chapter explores the several earthly loves which Augustine found himself indulging in. Chapter 4 then analyses Augustine's two visions which reveal his movement from reason to faith. Finally Chapter 5 presents Augustine's cosmology and transcendental love that is the central focus of significance in his life journey. The conclusion finally includes a reference to Teresa Spinelli, foundress of the Augustinian Sisters Servants of Jesus and Mary who shared a spiritual affinity with Augustine.
