Events held at sensitive historic sites : challenges, risks & benefits

Abstract

This research investigates, if events at cultural heritage sites attract more visitors and positively influence tourism, which could significantly influence the heritage sites' standing. However, events may also present significant challenges to the preservation and management of such sites. A key challenge therefore, is to achieve a sustainable balance between these two objectives and finding a sustainable event planning method for events and historic sites.
