Abstract: An article which talks about an R.M.L. gun designed by W.G. Armstrong and Co. at their Elswick works, Newcastle-upon-Tyne. It was originally rejected by the Ordnance Board for use in U.L. in favour of the 80 ton gun but, since some of the Italian battleships were armed with 100 ton gun it was decided that two guns would be sited in Malta and two in Gibraltar. Thus only four of these guns were manufactured. Of these only two now remain, one in Gibraltar and one in Malta.
