Glossary on motor vehicle technology

Abstract

This dissertation aims at providing a useful glossary (English - Maltese I Maltese - English) to support translation processes in the field of motor vehicle technology. The goal set out for this dissertation was to have terms used in the English language translated into Maltese. It was felt that adding the definitions of the terms used in English and Maltese terms would be helpful for the user of this glossary to better understand the meaning of the English term in addition to its corresponding meaning in the Maltese language. Additionally, this dissertation tries to answer the obstacles which perhaps translators and interpreters may come across when dealing with this field and endeavours to fill gaps and emptiness in Maltese motor vehicle technology. With the help of this glossary, the translators and interpreters would have a broad understanding of the many systems and component parts that constitute the basis of a modern motor vehicle.
