Citation: Montebello, M. (2011). Female figures in the novels of A.S. Byatt and Dacia Maraini: 'Possession' and 'Isolina' (Master's dissertation).
Abstract: In the following chapters I will be analysing the situations that female figures have to endure as represented in certain feminist novels, with a particular focus on A.S Byatt's Possession: A Romance and Dacia Maraini's Isolina. The two books have been chosen because despite their diversity, there are still common threads with regards to their representation of social oppression and discrimination. In order to fully understand the power of these two works I will be drawing on the works of different critics as well as different fields of criticism.
