Abstract: This thesis utlises the work of a contemporary English novelist Zadie Smith, whose novels published at the beginning of the new millennium White Teeth, The Autograph Man, and On Beauty have made an impact on the British literary scenery of the day. The thorough analysis of Smith's creation by scholars like Philip Tew and Tracey L. Walters, among others, has provided means for a further discussion of cultural themes relevant in these novels. Present thesis attempts to offer an analysis of White Teeth and On Beauty from a post colonialist perspective, scrutinising the idea of belonging to the world.
