| Abstract: | This dissertation attempts to assess the relationship between Micro firms and the macro economy. The methodology used is based on NSO data and by means of a questionnaire. The main conclusions are that differences in present country institutions, policies and history may embrace a business culture within which Micro Firms are given more space to function effectively than might be the case for others. This dissertation will show that there is indeed a relationship between micro firms and the macro economy and that a higher number of micro firms activity within the country does effectually lead to higher level of economic growth. In addition the dissertation will analyse the findings stemming out of a survey questionnaire purposely drawn up and carried out amongst 56 micro firms. Facts about Maltese Micro firms characteristics will be discussed and current Government policy reviewed on the basis of their responses. The dissertation gives public policy suggestions suitable for the promotion of new and efficient Micro Enterprises and policy which will help create a culture of entrepreneurship within which new Micro Firms. |
