Abstract: This dissertation presents the implementation of rotor flux orientated vector control of a permanent magnet synchronous machine. The application of high frequency injection for position estimation is also investigated. A TMS320F240 DSP controller is used to implement the digital control for the PMSM drive. The PMSM is supplied from a commercial IGBT inverter which was modified to accept external IGBT gate drive signals. The results presented are for the PMSM drive and for an induction motor controlled from the same drive using the software for IRFO vector control from a previous project.
